In the eclectic neighborhood of Riverwest situated just north of downtown and west of the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, is the heartbeat of a counter mainstream culture that celebrates individuality and free-spirit. This neighborhood, where I have lived since 2015, is a tight-knit community that welcomes people of all ethnicities, gender and whatever else you may believe in. It is an idealistic neigborhood that prioritizes people over greed and wealth, which is why it is no surprise that each summer the neighbor throws a wild 24-hour bike race dubbed as the “people’s holiday.”
